a fuller nest

Our backyard treasure just keeps getting more and more valuable. We came home to find five eggs in the nest the other day and very quickly that number grew to six. It has become an experience calling on body, mind and soul of my children and they run each morning after breakfast to 'check on their nest'- to count the eggs, to inspect for tiny cracks and signs of emerging life.

They have begun journals detailing thier findings- how many eggs, what time the mother bird was seen sitting on her eggs, and sketches of the growing nest. This is nature study at its best.

I am so thankful for this little bit of animal miracle right in our own backyard this spring.
